Strep A Throat Test
What is a Strep A Throat Test?
Strep A (Group A Streptococcus) is a type of bacteria that can cause a range of infections, from mild illnesses like sore throats and skin infections to more serious conditions such as scarlet fever and, in rare cases, invasive disease. It spreads easily through close contact with an infected person, usually by coughing, sneezing, or touching contaminated surfaces. Most infections can be treated effectively with antibiotics if caught early.
You can read more about Strep A on the NHS website.
